Not using dish soap ‘is one of the 10 car wash commandments’

There are ten car wash commandments and one of them is to never use dish soap in place of car shampoo.

Auto123.com has come up with a list of tips to help motorists clean their vehicle and make it look its best.

One of the most important things to remember is that washing up liquid is a big no-no, with the source stating that car shampoo can be picked up from various outlets and is an essential investment.

"Your paint contains several protective elements and using dish soap or other household cleaners will chip away at them and cause premature wear," the source added.

Another tip offered by the website is to use windscreen cleaner and glass cleaner last, as dirt from the body can accumulate inside the frames.

According to a recent entry on the Powersheen blog, car shampoo is a staple of every car cleaning kit, as there is no substitute for it.
