According to Rich White, executive director of the Car Care Council, spending time maintaining the interior and exterior of a motor is not a big ask and will pay dividends in the long run.
"Keeping your vehicle clean not only protects your valuable investment, it also fosters a sense of pride and accomplishment. It’s a task that takes very little money or effort, but delivers huge returns," he stated.
The council highlighted that drivers should only use items such as car shampoo, wheel cleaners and other products which have been specifically designed to be used on motors.
Owners who plan to follow the advice may find that purchasing car care products online saves them some money.
Ed Bowsher, head of consumer finance at lovemoney.com, stated that in the majority of cases, buying items via the internet can be cheaper than shopping for them from high street outlets.
