Dirty windscreens ‘make the sun’s glare more dangerous’

The importance of investing in windscreen cleaner and keeping the glass free of dust and dirt has been highlighted by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).

According to the organisation, the glare from the sun is a significant danger to motorists and can create more problems than either driving at night or in stormy conditions.

With the clocks set to change on October 31st, drivers will have to contend with low sun in both the morning and evening.

Neil Greig, director of policy and research at the IAM, said that while drivers cannot change the sun's position, there are steps they can take to reduce its impact.

"Keep your windscreen clean, both inside and out … dirty windscreens add to the danger when the sun is low," he added.

Drivers will find that investing in windscreen cleaner will not only do the job well but is also affordable.

Dan Strumpf, from the Associated Press, said recently that products from the likes of Mothers and Meguiar's are not expensive and will provide a top-quality finish.
