When it comes to selling a vehicle, one that looks as though it has been well cared for will appeal more than a motor that looks past its best, meaning drivers need to take care of their pride and joy.
Speaking to MokenaPatch, Michael Fuller, owner of Fuller's Carwash and Detailing Center, said that it is vital to employ the right exterior and interior cleaning products to make the car look presentable at all times.
This is especially important when it comes to selling the motor.
"If you want to get the best return for your money, you need to take care of your car. A lot of people judge a book by its cover, so if you want to sell it someday for a good price, it's a good idea to keep it looking top-notch," Mr Fuller said.
The expert went on to offer tips to ensure the paint work maintains its lustre and the vehicle looks its best as it goes down the road.
One of the keys is to use car waxes to protect the bodywork from contaminants.
Mr Fuller recommended applying car waxes at least twice a year and with the weather improving now is as good a time as any due to the damage that the sun's rays can cause.
Korey Kennedy, from the Canadian Automobile Association, made a similar point to Metro Canada recently.
He stated that while winter may have passed, many of the contaminants which the car is exposed to during the season will still be present if the owner has not given it a thorough wash.
Mr Kennedy suggested a comprehensive exterior wash to get rid of salt, grit and other substances that cause significant damage to the vehicle.
By doing so, drivers can protect the value of their car, the expert went on to say.
