Perfect paintwork ‘requires car polishes’

To get the best finish it is not enough to just wash a vehicle with car shampoo and dry with microfibre cloths, it has been claimed.

According to an article on asiaonemotoring, car polishes are what is required if drivers want to elevate their motor from looking good to spectacular.

While the aforementioned products are essential for removing grit and dirt, to get a world-class shine, car polishes are a must, as they remove imperfections which stop the light from bouncing off it.

"Perfectly-detailed paintwork, free from imperfections like swirls, scratches, holograms, orange peel texture and oxidation allows for light to be reflected directly creating sharp mirror-like reflections," the source noted.

Any or all of those imperfections will cause the light to be refracted rather than reflected, resulting in a dull finish, the news provider added.

Ricochet's Rapid Detail suggested recently that poor washing technique is a likely cause of excessive swirl marks on cars.
