When it comes to selling a vehicle, it is worth tackling the finer details as these can help the owner get a better price.
Alec Gutierrez, from Kelley Blue Book, told Cnnmoney.com that scratches and swirl marks are areas which drivers can tackle.
Addressing these imperfections can make a big difference when the time comes to put the vehicle on the market.
"Many minor paint scratches and scuffs can be polished out. For dents, there are reputable firms that specialise in dent removal," Mr Gutierrez told the news provider.
He warned that those who are not confident in their abilities should consider taking the motor to a professional detailing outfit who will be able to perform the work to a satisfactory standard.
According to Ricochet's Rapid Detail, washing, waxing and polishing are the three most important steps in making a car look good.
