Microfibre cloths ‘are an eco-friendly choice’

As well as being kinder to a car's paint job, microfibre cloths are an environmentally-friendly choice when it comes to drying a vehicle.

Allecia Vermillion, from the GateHouse News Service, said that increasing numbers of people are looking to reduce their impact on the environment and this includes washing their cars.

The writer suggests that motorists wash their car on a gravel-covered surface, as the soil can filter out chemicals found in car shampoo, and use microfibre cloths afterwards.

"Use washable microfibre cloths instead of paper towels to dry the car," Ms Vermillion wrote.

Another tip she gave is for people to search for car cleaning products which are non-toxic.

There are a number of care exterior care products consumers can purchase which are non-toxic.

These include the Meguiars Plastx – Clear Plastic Cleaner and Polish, which will remove scratches, swirls and oxidation from clear plastic windows without using harsh solvents.
