Microfibre cloths and glass cleaner ‘essential winter products’

The snow and ice which has covered the UK in recent days presents many challenges to drivers but there are steps they can take to remain safe and save money at the same time.

Mike Rutherford, writing for the Daily Telegraph, stated that windscreen cleaner, glass cleaner and microfibre cloths should be used to allow motorists to see in the harsh conditions.

"Clean the inside of windscreens as often as you clean the outside. Modern, recycled plastic dashboards often cause screens to acquire an annoying 'steamed-up' appearance. Eliminate the problem with good quality soft cloths and decent glass cleaning products," he stated.

Car plastic polish is also something which drivers may want to invest in to allow them to clean their headlights and rear lights, as it will make it easier for other road users to see there is a vehicle in front of them.

The Institute of Advanced Motorists recently urged drivers to ensure that their reservoirs are topped up with windscreen cleaner and anti-freeze to combat the effects of the bad weather.
