Drivers ‘need to tackle highly corrosive brake dust’

There are many contaminants which pose a threat to the look of a car and one of the trickiest to deal with is brake dust.

Brake dust is inevitable since cars need to stop, but the damage caused by the flecks of metal is something that motorists do not have to put up with.

It is difficult to get off because it is corrosive and extremely sticky, meaning drivers must invest in effective car wheel cleaners, car cleaning brushes and microfibre cloths to fully treat it.

According to Ricochet's Rapid Detail, the only way to keep on top of the problem is to break out the exterior care products and look after the vehicle on a regular basis.

"Washing your vehicle weekly will remove these contaminants before they have opportunity to do unsightly damage," the company said.

Drivers can also invest in tyre cleaners and give their rubber the once over, with the Calgary Herald's Todd Green stating recently that he had some success using Autoglym Instant Tyre Dressing.
