The salt and grit may have gone from the roads but that does not mean drivers can neglect caring for their vehicles, it has been claimed.
Shawn Hoelzer, CarMax ASE master technician, said that this is a common occurrence but with a few simple steps, motorists can make their car look and feel brand new.
The first thing to do is to get a good car shampoo and clean the bodywork as well as the undercarriage.
Secondly, the CarMax technicians recommended using car waxes after every wash.
"Wax protects against the sun's damaging UV rays," they stated.
Mr Hoelzer added that with a little bit of elbow grease, motorists can have their vehicle looking great in no time.
"Following a few easy steps to spruce up your vehicle helps to not only avoid costly repairs, but also keep vehicles running smoothly all year-round," he noted.
Ricochet Dave, from Ricochet's Rapid Detail, made a similar point recently, noting that protecting the paint from the sun's UV rays is essential, otherwise it will fade and look dull.
