Detailing firms offer car care tips

Several detailing experts have offered advice on how drivers can make sure their vehicle looks the part and does not suffer long term damage from the elements.

The Ottawa Citizen spoke to several companies and asked for their advice, with Minute Car Wash recommending they wait until all traces of salt are gone from the roads before cleaning the carpets and mats.

Top's Car Wash stated that regular washing is the best way to avoid permanent wear and tear, meaning drivers may want to invest in clay bars and car shampoo.

Splash Customer Car Care recommended having a thorough detailing job done every 12 months.

"Have a major detailing done at least once every year to avoid permanent problems," the firm added.

According to a recent post on the Powersheen blog, tyre cleaners and car brushes should be used to breathe some new life into the wheels and make them look as good as the rest of the vehicle.
