It is important that drivers use clay bars to remove contaminants from their car's bodywork, however, they should only do this once a month.
That is according to the howtocar blog, which stated there are a number of things to think about when buying clay bars and that motorists should do their research.
Among the issues drivers need to consider are whether they need clay bars that are moderate in their effect or ones which are more abrasive.
The danger with the latter is that they can do more harm than good if used by somebody with little experience of claying their vehicles.
Either way, the best strategy is not to overdo the claying.
"Auto detailers suggest all car owners clay bar their cars on a monthly basis to achieve the best results," the blog said.
According to Rory, writing on the Car Valeting Pro website, one of the best clay bars around is Meguiar's Quik Clay Detailing System.
