‘Always wash a vehicle’ before applying car wax

There are few better ways of protecting a car's paint job than using car waxes, however, it is important to apply them correctly in order to get the best results.

Tony Banham, from The Car Clinic, wrote for the Leader that car waxes are tried and tested products which can help protect the bodywork from corrosive substances.

He stated that car wax is an essential car exterior care product and stressed the importance of using it in the correct manner, otherwise it will do more harm than good.

"Never apply wax to a car that has not been washed first. Always wet the surface first and apply light pressure whilst washing or you can cause microscopic scratches or 'swirl marks'," Mr Banham wrote.

For the ultimate shine, drivers should use Meguiar's Gold Class Clear Coat Wax, according to a recent entry on the Hub Garage website, which said that it gives the ultimate show car shine.
