Are you looking for the best car polish and/or wax product for your white, silver or light coloured paintwork? It is a question that we get asked at least once or twice a week and as the owner of a white coloured motor myself I know what a pain it can be to keep it looking gleaming all year round.
The problem, especially with white is how to get that deep wet look shine in the first place and then to have last as long as possible. As with many things the quality of the finished look is mainly in the preparation, but there are a number of products that come top of our list to give you that mirror like shine – even on white. Colin recently contacted us to ask for some advice on detailing his Jaguar. He wanted to get a really good shine and was looking to buy the Meguiars G220 Dual Action polishing machine. After recommending various products including a mix of Meguiars and Poorboys Black Hole, Colin finally got the good weather – and results – he had been waiting for:
Colins' Jaguar before detailing commenced
“I started by rinsing the car off with a hose, I then mixed some Meguiars NXT car wash in my Meguiars bucket with grit guard, I soaped the car all over using a Meguiars Microfibre Wash Mitt after fully soaping the car, I thoroughly rinsed the car again using a gentle spray from the hose. (more…)

Autoglym Rapid Detailer Auto Express Best Buy Award Winner 2011
Auto Express have just published their detailing spray product test results, with the first place Best Buy Award going to Autoglym Rapid Detailer.
Commenting on the test Auto Express concluded this product “..is hard to beat. Simply spray it on and wipe with a polishing cloth. It was still beading water well after six weeks and is competitively priced”
The test comprised of sectioning the bonnet of a car that had been waxed and driven for a week before the test and was then washed and dried ready for the application of the detailers. Each detailing spray was assessed for ease of use, price and how well they beaded water over the next six weeks – which also included the latest of the big freezes we had here in the UK. A section of the bonnet was also left untreated for comparison.
In a close second place was (more…)

Traditional carnauba based waxes may not hold up in harsh winter conditions, so if you have not already done so, you may wish to change over to a synthetic wax or sealant for winter protection. (more…)

One of the most common questions we get asked is what are the best car wax, polish and detailing products for dark or light, black, blue, red, white, green etc coloured cars.
It is possible to get detailing products with pigments in them for each type of colour, but these are not really necessary and are not particularly long-lasting, simply disguising the problem rather than correcting it.
That said when you get into the more serious detailing products there are a number that are designed for or work really well on dark cars.
The following list is our Top 10 of car polish and wax for dark cars. (more…)
